Robert Creeley
Shall we &/ why not? The American poet Robert Creeley, co-founder with Charles Olson of the Black Mountain school of poetics, has, probably more than any other writer, determined the shape of American poetry over the past fifty years. His characteristically short, broken lines, with their jazzy, seemingly improvised quality, have affected writers and readers alike. A source of inspiration, not just to writers but to artists working in other fields, Creeley has collaborated with leading jazz musicians & with some of the greatest American painters & sculptors of his age, including John Chamberlain, Francesco Clemente, Jim Dine, Robert Indiana & RB Kitaj, most of whom have agreed to appear in this film. |
